As a busy mother of two girls I am always thinking about the future. From one busy day to the next, my thoughts race in sequence with the passing of time. What has to get done today? What kind of people am I raising? Will all this persistency pay off? These are questions every mother asks herself. Being on the road driving from fiddle lessons to gymnastics we find ourselves living in the car, eating dinner with an occassional cookie. One day after ordering Chinese food for our ride home I glanced down at the fortune cookie waiting on the seat beside me. What a brilliant idea, a cookie that gives thought and imagination on top of tasting good. Coming from a artist who has focused for the past six years on common objects for her work my creative thoughts were off and running. How can I fold paper into a cookie which has a specific fortune directed at the viewer? A fortune designed to fit the person’s thoughts and dreams. |
